Fukami

Fukami is a three-dimensional system shaped by the interaction of volume and surface. It consists of
47 × 47 × 11 mm square modules in unglazed ceramic. Each module has a smooth cylindrical recess at its centre. This contrasts with the rough, bush-hammered outer edges. The two finishes create both visual and tactile tension and strengthen the sense of depth. The modules are assembled on 300 × 300 mm sheets in alternating directions. This creates an interwoven pattern that captures light in different ways and emphasises the relief. Available in four natural colours, Fukami creates sculptural surfaces in which solids and voids play a central role.
